SIU Logo Packages

The Southern Illinois University logo has been created with use cases in mind, several layout orientations are available. The logo should not be manipulated in any way from these files. (This includes manipulating or adding text and altering / changing colors.)

Download reproduction-quality SIU logos below. EPS packages are prepared for print use with a CMYK color profile. PNG packages (RGB color profile) are intended for digital use, including social media posts, digital flyers, and on-screen displays. Deciding which one of these to use will depend on the spacing you have available to you for your design. Each format (horizontal, vertical, and stacked) is available in the following color treatments:

  • One-color black
  • One-color white
  • Maroon "S" with black text
  • Maroon "S" with white text
  • Vertical Logo

This orientation has the logo above the words Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Again, Carbondale is on a separate line under Southern Illinois University.

  • Horizontal Logo

This orientation has the logo to the right of the words Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Carbondale is on a separate line under Southern Illinois.
    Horizontal SIU Logo
  • Stacked Logo

This orientation takes on a narrower vertical footprint than the SIU Vertical. You will notice that the words Southern Illinois University Carbondale are stacked underneath the logo with each word occupying a separate line.

File Types Explained

  • EPS (Vector)

EPS files are high-quality logo files that work best for printing. They’re scalable, meaning you can make them as large as you need without losing any quality.

To open or use an EPS file, you’ll need professional design software like Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or similar programs.

EPS logos come with transparent backgrounds, which makes them easy to place over different colors or images.

These files are the preferred choice for things like printed brochures, signs, and other high-resolution projects.

  • PNG (Raster)

    raster example image

PNG files are best for digital use—like websites, presentations, and everyday business documents.

They’re similar to JPEGs, but PNGs can have transparent backgrounds, which makes them more flexible for design.

Unlike vector files, PNGs are made of pixels (also called raster or bitmap), so they can lose quality if you try to enlarge them too much.

PNG files aren’t meant for high-quality printing, but they’re great for use in web pages, emails, and Microsoft Office applications.

Which Logomark to Use?

Colors in the primary color palette are the only acceptable colors in which the logomark and signature may be reproduced. Use these versions for all external applications: official university documents, brochure covers, ads, and large campus signage (entrance).

Usage: Stand-alone print/digital, Signature, Merchandising

  • SIU Maroon (preferred)
  • Black
  • White (reverse)
  • SIU Maroon Logomark

The maroon version is the preferred logomark and is designed to overprint light neutral (creams, light greys etc.) color backgrounds. The SIU logomark can be placed on simple, noncompeting photographic backgrounds as seen in the example. In the vector file, the highlight inset is set to be "clear" and will take on the background color.
  • Black SIU Logomark

The black version is designed to overprint light neutral (creams, light greys/heather, etc.) color backgrounds. In the vector file, the highlight inset is set to be "clear" and will take on the background color.

  • Reverse-to-White SIU Logomark

The SIU logomark can be placed on simple, noncompeting photographic backgrounds or illustrations. Use the reverse-to-white version in these situations. In the vector file, the highlight inset is set to be "clear" and will take on the background color.
