Our team designs concept-driven shoots that bring bold ideas to life. With full control over lighting, props, and setting, we create dynamic images tailored for maximum marketing impact. 

We craft visuals for: campaigns, publications, and signature campus marketing assets.

We highlight individuals and small groups in the environments that tell their stories best. Every portrait is purposeful, reinforcing the connection between people and place.

Coverage Limitations 

Please Note: Our team’s primary mission is to support university-level marketing and communications priorities. While we may not be available to cover departmental requests such as award ceremonies, dinners, receptions, group photos, or student headshots, we want to ensure you are supported. 

We can work with you to find local freelance creators who may be able to help with these needs. If you require assistance with items in this category, please email us (link to photo@siu.edu).

Headshots are available by appointment every Thursday/Friday morning from 9 am-12 pm.

Media Portal

Our digital media portal is powered by Canto, serving as a photo library and resource hub for all campus members. Access requests are required, and once approved, users can explore and utilize SIU's extensive collection of images and digital assets.

SIU faculty and staff are able to self-register by using their SIU email account. Allowed SIU email types are listed below:

  • siu.edu
  • alumni.siu.edu
  • dps.siu.edu
  • siumed.edu
  • foundation.siu.edu
  • business.siu.edu

Media Portal - Vendor Access

Powered by Canto, vendors are able to access SIU identifiers and digital assets. You can create your vendor account at siu.canto.com/v/identifiers by following the steps outlined below. Contact us at universitycommunications@siu.edu for your Invitation Code to get started.

  1. Visit siu.canto.com/v/identifiers.
  2. Click “Register Now” below the login button.
  3. Fill out the required fields, and set your “Account Type” as “Vendor Account.”
  4. In the lower-left corner, check the box “Use an Invitation Code” and copy/paste your invitation code into the field.
  5. You will then receive an email prompting you to complete your account.
