Text Messaging
Opt-In and Opt-Out for Text Messaging
We believe in respectful and effective communication. Our opt-in and opt-out system for text messaging allows students to choose whether to receive non-emergency updates via text.
Opt-In Process
Students must actively opt-in to receive text messages, ensuring that only those interested in relevant updates will be included in our messaging system. Students can indicate their preference to receive text messages during the application process or by responding to designated communications from the university.Opt-Out Process
Students who choose not to receive text messages can opt-out at any time. The process is straightforward and respects students’ privacy and preferences.
- Text “STOP”: Students can reply with “STOP” to any university text message, which will immediately remove them from the messaging list.
Importance of Opt-In and Opt-Out
The opt-in and opt-out system is essential for several reasons:
- Respect for Student Preferences: This approach ensures students only receive messages that are relevant to them.
- Reduced Spam: It minimizes the risk of overwhelming students with unwanted messages, ensuring communications remain valuable and impactful.
- Enhanced Engagement: When students opt-in, they are more likely to engage with the content, leading to better awareness of deadlines and opportunities that support their academic success.
- Compliance with Regulations: All text messaging practices adhere to the CAN-SPAM Act, ensuring that students' rights to control their communication preferences are respected. For more information, visit the CAN-SPAM Act: A Compliance Guide for Business.
