The official university seal has very limited use, primarily on formal university documents such as contracts, deeds and academic diplomas. The university seal is used in place of the SIU logomark in the Southern Illinois University system signature that appears on the presidential website, and it also appears in the footer of the SIU Carbondale website as a link to the presidential site.
It also may be used, with authorization, as a design element on certain ceremonial communications, such as formal invitations, and on quality clothing and gift items. All such uses require prior approval from University Communications and Marketing at 453-2276.
The official university seal is a “stand-alone” mark of the university, which should not be combined with the Southern Illinois University signature.
